Today, Saturday 27 December, sees Woolworth's last trading day throughout the country.

Woolworth, a recognised high street institution for decades, will cease trading today with massive sale discounts to clear stocks before closing its doors for good!

Unable to find a white knight buyer to save the 27,000 jobs the end has finally come for the well-known high street brand.

The receivers and trade union, UKDAW, are still hopeful that it might be possible to save some of the jobs but with the current economic climate doubts persist.

Many will be sad to see Woolworths go as for many towns, very similar to Bo'ness, it was sometimes the largest and major retailor and a dependable local brand on the high street.
